Refunds and Cancellation
Who charges you
Please Explain subscriptions are purchased inside the app and billed by Apple or by Google, depending on which store you downloaded from. We never see or hold your card details, and we cannot charge, refund, or cancel your subscription ourselves. Apple and Google handle all of that under their own policies.
Try it before you pay
Your first three story timelines are free. No account and no card are needed to read them, so you can decide whether Please Explain is worth paying for before any money changes hands.
How to request a refund
If you subscribed on iPhone: request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or in Settings under your Apple Account purchase history. Apple decides the outcome.
If you subscribed on Android: open the Google Play Store, go to your order history under Payments and subscriptions, and request a refund on the Please Explain order. Google decides the outcome, and requests made within the first 48 hours are usually the most straightforward.
We cannot approve or process either request, and we would be misleading you if we promised a refund we have no power to issue. What we can do is help: email us and we will explain what we see on our side, and back up a reasonable request where we are able to.
How to cancel
iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, then Please Explain, then Cancel Subscription.
Android: Google Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then Please Explain, then Cancel, or go to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date, or the next period may already have been charged. Cancelling stops future charges. It does not end the period you have already paid for, so you keep full access until that period runs out.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription
This one catches people out, so we want to be plain about it. Your subscription lives with Apple or Google, not with us. If you delete your Please Explain account without cancelling, the store will keep billing you. Cancel first, then delete.
